A few fun facts about FOAM…

hammer

Foam can be recycled!

Post-consumer polyurethane foam (i.e. used foam) is shredded into small pieces at a recycling facility. The recycled foam is then used to make products such as carpet underlay.

Density vs Firmness

Density and firmness are not the same thing. The density of foam is the weight and quality of the foam. The higher the density of the foam, the greater the support and longevity of the foam.

Firmness vs Density

Firmness is not the same as density. The firmness of foam refers to the degree of compression of the foam. Low-density foam can be firm and high-density foam can be soft.

We were one of the first

Foam Solutions was one of the first places in Winnipeg where you could buy a memory foam mattress. Now memory foam is everywhere. Apparently, we were on to something.

Not all foam is created equal

Foam manufactured outside of North America may contain substandard materials or restricted chemicals. Purchasing CertiPUR-US®certified foam ensures you are getting a quality product.

NASA invented memory foam

Memory Foam was created by NASA in the 1960s to improve safety in their pilot seats. It is now widely used in mattresses, pillows, sports equipment and medical cushions.

Our commitment to the environment and to you…

We use SIMALFA® water-borne adhesives, which are GREENGUARD® indoor air quality certified.

We proudly carry CertiPUR-US® certified foam, which is made without ozone depleters, mercury, lead, and heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

CertiPUR-US foam is also made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants. The foam is also tested to be low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality.

We believe that helping you reuse, reimagine and reupholster the things you already own is a great way to help the environment.

Replacing the foam in your couch cushions or reusing your existing patio furniture with an updated set of cushions, rather than buying new, are great ways to reduce your environmental impact.

Whenever possible, we recycle the used foam that is brought to us by customers. The recycled foam is then used to make things like carpet underlay and sports mats.
